Weekly Stories Workshop: Conveying your value
May 13, 2024
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Letting people know what we do is the most important thing we do to advance our careers. With practice we can communicate our value effectively using stories. Our audiences, being human themselves, are hardwired for stories.
Who is this workshop for?
Wherever we begin in relating what we do, from the vaguest ideas on, we improve with practice. With practice we can move from simply making claims to reporting results to showing what we are made of by sharing how we work. These workshops provide the opportunity to gain a competitive advantage over others by learning how to tell our stories in the job marketplace.
Whether you attend regularly or drop in to polish a story for an upcoming interview, you will hear participants’ stories in all stages of development. Whatever your focus, you will be building your ability to use stories to convey your value. Drop in at any time to polish your stories for whatever context you need to adapt them to. Some participants simply listen in as others sharpen their presentation, some get comments on their stories or even work one on one with Win. Try it out!
Why Stories?
Sharing stories is the single most effective way for a potential employer or any of your friends or others assisting you to experience what it is like to work with you. Stories are as natural for us to tell as they are for our listeners to take in. With a little practice you can master work story storytelling for your career.
Join us to practice delivering stories engagingly and compellingly. You will:
* Identify and polish stories of your successes, large and small to impress your contacts
* Prepare for the hardest interview questions
* Introduce yourself with ease
* Create impressive resume bullets
By registering, you will receive a link to join the workshop. Sign up here for the date(s) you would like to attend. Registration will close 15 minutes before each session.
To attend, as well as registering, please forward the fee for the hour ($20), via Venmo (@Win-Sheffield), Zelle (esswired@hotmail.com) or by check. The fee is waived the first Monday of each month.
